About Our Quality

At Quality Bar we are committed to making only the highest quality bar. Customers see it in our company name, our mission statement, and in the product we produce.

There are three criteria for measuring the quality of Turned, Ground and Polished (TG&P) bars:

  • Straightness
  • Ovality
  • Finish

It all starts with straightness. The straighter the bar going into the peeler, the better it comes out. The straighter the bar going into the grinder, the better it comes out. Surprisingly there are no meaningful standards for measuring straightness in the cold bar industry, nor are there any meaningful standards for testing the straightness of bars. At Quality Bar we have developed our own standards for straightness and testing straightness.

Ovality is easy to measure. We use digital read outs from laser-mics on all our grinders.

Finish is equally easy to measure. We use hand held profalometer to give us our finish in RMS.

Many commodity cold bar producers do little testing. Many have no way to quantitatively test their bars. At Quality Bars we have built a straightness testing machine that measures within one ten thousands (.0001) of an inch over a twenty four foot 24' bar.

Our emphasis on straightness permits us to produce a straighter, rounder bar with a better finish than our competitors.
